Ok, so Voodoo woman showed up in my Youtube recommendations as part of a Halloween compilation. I have never heard this song, but it is listed as early 60’s and Black Magic Woman is 1970 in terms of copyright. So is it just me or do The lyrics and sound seem very similar and did Santana just make a blatant rip off.
The cover for a new non-fiction science hypothesis by myself. Pre-order now, for an Oct. 31st release date!
Is Ghostbusters really about “nothing”? In other words, does it lack subtext which ultimately makes it about more than three academic outcast busting ghost? I think there is an answer and it’s quite simple, it’s also why the original film seems to resonate more with Millennial men than older generations.
The movie introduces us to three men, all of whom work at the same University investing a ghost sighting at the NYC library. Each one has a different personality and all three work well for the story being told. Peter is the outgoing, sarcastic, skeptical one. Egon is the straight-laced, somber scientist with a bias towards the paranormal. Ray is the giant man-child, with a clear bias in the supernatural, evidence by his bursting into Peter’s office, like a kid at Christmas over a ghost sighting.
There is where the beginning of the subtext start to take hold, which is subtle, yet there and I think misunderstood as being less of a character flaw than something like, believing in ghost for instance.
Ray is the man who is afraid to grow and face the real world. It may not seem it, but it’s ever present throughout the movie, instead of in your face. It is called subtext after and subtext isn’t an IPA.
The next exchange we see regarding Ray’s fear of adulthood is a conversation with Peter over being kicked out of the university. “You never worked in the private sector before, I have, they expect results.” Cements his fear of going back into the “adult” world, that he was a part of and didn’t really fare too well. Following the heels of this scene we get the exchange “I grew up in that home, you didn’t even bargain with the guy!” once again the language leads us to believe that he is fearful of growing up.
I notice that most millennial men who enjoy this movie are often much like Ray. They have toy collections, they’re very much the embodiment of the Peter Pan complex.
Back to the movie, we’re developing the theme of Ray’s childhood fear, authority is the antagonist, more so than Gozer. This is a very child mentality were a US vs Them against authority comes into play. Walter Peck might be dick less, but he has a job to do and is an adult voice of reason. The mayor is a voice of reason, the university is the voice of reason.
Peter is clearly not a man-child, just kind of lazy. He does all the active work in the Ghostbusters movie, a sign of lack of maturity is passivity. Ray and Egon have no interpersonal skills and it shows, since Peter is the “father” figure of the group and a horrible one at that. Egon might be just an awkward introvert, but Ray just cannot be bothered. He couldn’t even contain himself from sliding down the pole at the showing of their future headquarters.
Even Ray’s cigarette smoking is, subliminally, showing us he is a child as by the second movie he choose more “mature” forms of tobacco and while tobacco use of any kind is really a horrible choice, given the time period a pipe and a cigar had different connotations than cigarette smoking.
A huge part of everyone’s story, but Ray’s is a woman in their life. Peter has Dana, Egon has the sexually aggressive Janie Melitz, but Ray has a wet dream, normally associated with adolescence, about a ghost. This is typical male fear of intimacy.
Once we get to the ending, where the Ghostbusters fight Gozer, we are seeing the conclusion of Ray’s whole character arc. He chooses the form of the Statepufft Marshmallow Man as the destructor, now it is his litteral childhood he is facing down. “It just popped in there.” and “I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood, something that could never, ever possibly destroy us: Mr. Stay-Puft”
The destruction of Stay-Puft is the conclusion of Ray’s character arc. All for come back to a hero’s welcome, but with Ray seeming more contemplative and somber after it all, as the credits roll.
This was Ray’s rebirth, where this whole adulting thing is not as bad as Ray had feared and he takes it into the second movie with him.
This ultimately makes the whole movie about Ray, growing up and conquering your fears in order to become something ultimately much greater.
a new study suggest a link between friendship and similar genetics. This isn’t actually new or out of the realm of plausibility. If you do a search for the major histocompatibility complex, you find that our mates often have dissimilar traits to us than our relatives do. In fact, similar genetics tend to be akin to incest and inbreeding is bad for the species as a whole.
That said, if your friends are not the equivalent of fourth cousins, here are 10 reasons why having sex with your friends is beneficial to you.
1. SEX HAS BENEFITS.
If you’ve lived under the rock for the last several years, you’re bound to find a plethora of information disseminating scientific facts showing a correlation between sexual intercourse and health benefits. Some studies have shown reduced risk of blood pressure, mental health benefits and even keeps the immune system healthy. In other words, sex is natural medication for a lot of health problems that currently plague our society. That said, I wouldn’t skip the annual checkup, no matter how much sex you have.
2. NO STRESS SEX.
Not everyone is a social rock star. In fact, given the wide use of social media and smart phones, it’s a wonder anyone is able to socialize. In fact, people seem to be getting worse with live interactions. If you’re a social type, you’re in luck, because for everyone one man that isn’t out there scouting, that is one extra chance for you for find someone.
We’re comfortable with friends. They’re familiar, they know us and we can let our guard down. The benefit is better sex, without the weirdness. Ladies, who else has seen you with your hair up and without the make up on? Perhaps that guy in the friend zone is a sexual savant.
3. MORE FUN FOR HALF THE COST
If you’ve never read Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene, you should. It’s an incredible book that continues to hold up. One of the hallmarks of an excellent book, mind you.
Within its pages, you’ll find a breakdown of what is called cost-benefit analysis. In other words, you exert energy for each daily task you do. It only makes sense that they should have a benefit, then, right? Well, with work, school, friends and family, sometimes self-neglect is bound to happen. Why not allow for the stress relief you deserve, just because you’re not in the mood to go out for the night? Call a friend for those times when you absolutely, positively, need to orgasm.
4. LET YOUR FREAK FLAG, FLY.
Do you have a fetish that isn’t quite common? Afraid to ask the woman or guy you like, due to rejection, humiliation or judgment? Chances are you already discussed it with your friends and they don’t mind. They know how crazy you are and love you all the same. If they didn’t know, they wouldn’t be your friends. So why not experiment with those closest to you?
5. THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS.
Keeping sex to an intimate circle of friends is a great way to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infection. In fact, keeping it in house could keep you safer than meeting a stranger. Your friends care about you and vice versa, as such, they’re bound to be more open to keeping you and everyone involved, safe. This occurs, usually, in open relationships were you wouldn’t want to expose your loved one to any potential hazards. Face it, its human nature to care about those closest to you, over complete strangers. Now it benefits your sex life.
6. Uppers, not downers.
Friends are supportive of one another, or they should be. If you’re lucky enough to have supportive friends, you’ll be glad to know it boost yourself esteem. Isn’t it nice to get a self-esteem boost from people we care about over those we don’t? You can learn a lot about a person by the company they keep and sex is no different. Instead of getting boosted by the act of sex, you’re boosted by the friend instead and that is worth more than a night with any stranger will give you. In other words, supportive friends will always be supportive and not just to slip into your pants.
True friends have a great respect for one another and with that comes giving yourself completely. It also means someone who will respect your limits and not force you into uncomfortable moments. When someone respects you as a person, instead of a notch on their belt, it’s a great thing and rare to find. Too many people have less respect for people than they should. While admiration and other types of respect are earned, basic human respect should never be.
8. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
Getting to know someone is a lot of work. It can take months, even years to learn all their ins and outs. Better put in the Lord of the Rings, You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month and after a hundred years, they can still surprise you.
Isn’t it nice to know someone so well, they can surprise you in a pinch by giving you exactly what you desire? It’s almost like a psychic bond between two people, they don’t need words, and you both could express each others thoughts, non-verbally. What more could you ask for in a friend, let alone a sexual partner?
9. KNOWING YOUR LIMITS.
Much like respecting you enough to know what not to do, or knowing you well enough to be intuitive, we get knowing your limits. We all have different sex drives, buttons and things that make us tick. It’s these little idiosyncrasies that make us, well, us. Does the guy at the bar know when to quit because you couldn’t quite handle it? Does he make sure you’re OK during the sex? A good partner should know how to take you to your limit without driving you past it or is able to push it past that, safely. You know your friends know how to push your buttons and then pull back, it’s what they do best. It can also apply to sex to make it even better.
10. NO FEAR
Your friends are friends for a reason. They like you as you are and they don’t care how you look. With that comes things you won’t get from the guy you hook up with. Cuddling for instance is something few men still understand is a great way to enhance your girl’s sexual pleasure after the fun time ends. Friends can do what most men fear to try, intimacy. They know all your secrets, so make sure to hold them close as they do your darkest fears and desires. Who knows, perhaps you might even fall in love with the least likeliest of candidates, your best friend

There seems to be, at least to me, people confusing the idea of a sexually liberated woman and a slut as one and the same thing. This is just not true and is something that needed to be taken to task for a long time.
I think these ideas of that just sleeping around is equality for woman, is something that is being passed onto younger females and it is a bad thing to be passing on. You’re teaching these girls that if men can sleep around, so can’t they. This argument isn’t logical and we don’t take the time to think about what it really means to be sexually liberated as opposed to being an outright slut.
How often do you hear someone calling a woman a “slut”, when she may in-fact, not be one? A lot of woman use the term “slut” to denigrate other woman. Some use it as a greeting, much like black modified the dreaded N-word to great one another. Some use it as a joking poke: ”Oh, you’re such a slut” Granted, a lot of women oppose the idea of being a slut and some will even try to justify the behavior of a slut as a woman being “sexually liberated” yet, that isn’t true at all. We throw the term slut, around too lightly. Why, then, do we get riled up when our daughters grow up to become the later, rather than the former, all under the guise of being sexually liberated? Allow me to give you a clue as to what separates a slut, over the sexually liberated
The slut, quite often, sleeps around and has many, many partners. The sexually liberated woman is one who may have had many partners in her past. So what separates the two? A little thing called personal responsibility. The sexually liberated woman exercises personal responsibility, where as the slut only exercises that hole between her legs.
The sexually liberated woman will sleep with any man she wants or even none at all. The slut will also sleep with any man she wants. What is the difference? The Sexually Liberated woman will exercise discrimination, on who she sleeps with. The slut won’t discriminate and sleep with just about any man giving her attention.
The sexually liberated woman uses condoms. She makes sure the man has one, and if not, she will provide her own. The slut is lucky if she even knows what a condom is, never mind how to use one.
The Sexually liberated woman isn’t just looking for attention. She, like any man, desires physical pleasure as well. The slut will make out with anyone 10 feet from the closest camera. Remember, whores are not just whores in the bedroom; they are whores in all aspects of their lives, especially when it involves attention.
The sexually liberated woman will get sexually transmitted infection testing every few months, to ensure her health and the health of her partners. If she is in a long lasting relationship, she may, of course, forgo these test, unless she has reason to suspect she might need one, do to her or her partners infidelity, or if they choose a swingers lifestyle, or some other valid reason. The slut thinks the STD test is something you have to take to get a job and is the equivalent to a high school diploma.
The slut may go months, and months of unprotected sex, possibly accumulating many sexually transmitted infections along the way, and possibly infected many unsuspecting partners because of her own ignorance or her lack of respect for anyone she sleeps with, by just withholding the information back.
We cannot blame the slut for passing all of the sexually transmitted infections in the world. We need to blame the man who didn’t exercise his personal responsibility by going for the quick piece of ass, rather than looking for better quality woman, who exercises her personal responsibility.
Some more signs include:
Where are you picking her up?
If you’re picking her up in a bar, chances are someone you know did the same thing the night before. You won’t find sexually liberated woman making out with other sexually liberated woman in a club to shitty hip-hop to draw your attention to them. You’ll find them everywhere else, but clubs and bars. If you do happen come across one at the club, then that is a woman out of her element and you’re lucky or easily fooled.
If you found her on Craigslist she is probably an emotional train wreck. These women are very dangerous. A lot of them are disgruntled over a past relationship, most likely, they are not fully over it yet and you’ll bear the brunt of it. Stay away, for sluts and emotional wrecks await ye at Craigslist.
How many kids does she have?
If the woman you are thinking about fucking has had a lot of kids, or does have a lot of kids, and the fathers vary, you’ll want to stay away. Sexually Liberated woman wouldn’t have a lot of children, and if they did, it wouldn’t be with multiple fathers, because they have respect for themselves and that is why they use caution with personal responsibility, to make sure unwanted pregnancy doesn’t happen. Yet, the slut may have many children, and usually, those kids are taken by the state, yet, they can’t keep their legs and continue to produce more offspring to make them feel better, entrap men and get free money from the system. The do not exercise personal responsibility at all, and you’ll be wise to stay far away from them.
Of course, the list could go on and on about the difference, but the best way to tell isn’t always by looking, but by a woman’s actions. If she appears to be irresponsible for her own actions, she will be this way in all her endeavors and you should stay away.
Do you feel like your pee burns just from looking at her?
If you can’t even look at a woman without your penis itching, or your pee burns just thinking of her, than you are in the presence of a bona fide slut, and not a sexually liberated woman. Congrats, you probably have aids now.
In other words, sluts are men and sexually liberated woman are just that, woman.
